Cover letter generator

Four answers become a draft you can edit in place. Every sentence is built from something you typed.

It does not invent a company, an achievement, or a reason you admire someone’s work. If you leave the company blank the letter stays general and says so, rather than filling the gap with flattery you would have to defend in an interview.

What kind of letter is this?

It changes the opening and the ask, not the facts.

Blank is a real choice, not an unfinished form. The letter then addresses the team rather than pretending to know one.

Something with a number in it if you have one. Written as you would say it out loud — the letter puts the grammar around it.

Left empty, the letter says nothing here rather than something hollow.

Length

Short is three paragraphs. Standard adds the one about why this company, and is skipped entirely when you left that blank.

Method

What it writes, and what it will not.

Every sentence is assembled from an answer you gave. Where an answer is missing, the sentence is left out — not filled in.

It will

  • Open with the role, and with the referrer’s name when you gave one.
  • Put your evidence in the second paragraph, where it gets read.
  • Name the company only where you typed it.
  • Address the field change directly when that is the kind of letter you chose.
  • Close with a plain ask and your name.

It will not

  • Say it has “long admired” a company you did not write anything about.
  • Invent a metric, a project, or a mutual contact.
  • Claim a qualification you have not entered.
  • Use the word “passionate”. Nobody has ever been asked to prove it.
  • Send anything. The letter never leaves this page unless you copy it.

Before you send it.
