Which direction is worth a look?
Twelve questions about how you actually like to work โ not what you are good at, and not what you were hired to do. It sorts your answers into five broad directions and shows every answer that pushed each one up, so you can argue with the reasoning instead of the label.
The questions
Question 1 of 12
Back keeps every answer you have already given.

How the scoring works
No model, no training data, only addition. Each answer adds a fixed number of points to one or two directions, the points are summed, and the highest total is printed first.
The five directions
- Building things. The satisfaction is in the artefact. Engineering, data engineering, design that ships.
- Making sense of things. The satisfaction is in the explanation. Analysis, research, anything ending in โbecauseโ.
- Working with people. The satisfaction is in someone elseโs progress. Management, enablement, teaching, support.
- Shaping direction. The satisfaction is in the choice. Product, strategy, founding things.
- Keeping it running. The satisfaction is in the absence of drama. Platform, reliability, operations.
Five buckets for every job that exists is obviously too few. They are wide on purpose: a narrow label from twelve questions would be a worse lie than a wide one.
The weights, in full
Most answers add 2 points to a single direction. Four answers โ all of them in question 2 โ also add 1 to a second, because reaching for scope-cutting or for a measurement is partly one instinct and partly another.
The maximum any one direction can reach is 25 and the minimum is 0. Nothing is normalised, weighted per question, or adjusted afterwards.
Your result prints the exact points each answer contributed, so anyone with a pencil can check the arithmetic rather than take it on trust.
Where your answers go
Nowhere, unless you save it. The scoring runs in this page: nothing is sent to a server while you answer, and closing the tab ends it. Press Save this result and the direction your answers pointed is kept on your account โ never the answers themselves.
Why it will not tell you to quit
Because it does not know your rent, your visa, your health, your team, or whether you like the people you work with. A quiz issuing instructions with none of that in front of it is entertainment dressed as advice.
