Hiring from the other side โ€” what employers want to know before the interview

We hear from both candidates and employers on ClearHire. This is what hiring managers repeatedly tell us they wish they knew about a candidate before the first round.

What the resume does not say

  • Scope. "Led migration" โ€” of what? 3 services or 300? To what? Over what timespan?
  • Counterpart. Who did you work with closely? Engineering, product, design, ops? That tells the hiring manager where you will fit.
  • Reason for the move. Not the dramatic version. Just enough to understand the arc.
  • What you turned down. Sometimes the strongest signal is what you did not take on.

What verified employment changes

On a typical job board, everything above has to be surfaced by the candidate in a cover letter or on the call. On ClearHire, some of it is already on the record โ€” the company has confirmed the role, the title is cross-checked, and if the candidate has volunteered scope markers (team size, budget, product surface), those ride along with the role.

The practical result: the first interview can skip the reality-check on the resume and go straight to what the team actually wants to talk about.

If you are hiring and want to see what the employer-side flow looks like, the companies directory has example company profiles you can browse.
